How long does the ECB equine spa treatment last?

A single equine spa treatment usually lasts for 20 minutes and takes place at our premises in Country Durham, North East England.

Is livery available at the premises?

For the more severe injuries, East Durham Equine do have in place livery for your horses. Additionly, to this mixed with our state of the art facilities we will hope for a full and speedy recovery for such animal, as 24hour care is available and needed in these cases you can be at rest knowing they are being left at such a facility. 

Special rates can be given on lenghtly stays.

Can you treat small ponies in the equine spa?

Small ponies can get treated as the water depth can be changed to suit each animal.

Is there any risk of infecting open wounds?

No, in fact the ECB spa helps cleanse open wounds and prevents infection.

Can you treat above the hock?

With the use of the hose attachment any part of the horse can be treated. Such areas as the shoulder or stifle can be treated with the saline chilled water.  Wounds can also be treated this way if they are above the normal treatable depth.

Is the ECB equine spa good for laminitis?

Professor Chris Pollitt spent some time researching the effects of cold water immersion on Lamanitic ponies. After 72 hours of treatment all clinical signs of Laminitis were gone. Although this isn’t always possible, the spa has proven it has a massive effect on the pain involved in laminitis and is a very successful treatment.

Is it good for hoof growth ?

Yes. The high concentration of salt means the hoof grows faster and stronger than normal.
